Who:                  Over fifty “Real” Santa’s, Santa’s Helpers, Elves, and a few Mrs. Claus will be attending the Second Annual International University of Santa Claus.  A majority of the attendees are members of AORBS, the Amalgamated Order of Real Bearded Santa’s

                           Santa Timothy Connaghan, is the Chancellor of IUSC and also the owner of RealSantas.com and the Executive Director of AORBS, a national association of over 370 real bearded Santas.  For more information on IUSC or RealSantas.com visit http://www.RealSantas.com.

What:                 The International University of Santa Clausä (IUSC) is an all-day Workshop on “The Business of Santa Claus.”  It is presented by professional Santa’s and Entertainment specialists and directed to Santas, those who wish to become Santa, and those who work with Santa during the Holiday season.  Subjects covered will include Guest Service, Grooming and Appearance, The History of Santa Claus, Work Environments, Appearances at Special Events, Entertainment & Presentation styles, and the basic business aspects of being a Santa.

Where:               The Davis Auditorium in USC's Andrus Gerontology Center, located on McClintock Avenue.  (Enter at Gate 5 on Jefferson Blvd as all other USC Gates will be closed for the weekend.) NOTE: This is not the Davidson Conference Center, it is the Davis Auditorium. See Map

When:                Saturday, July 17, 2004, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Lunch at Noon. Graduation at 5:00 p.m.

Why:                  The International University of Santa Claus is being offered in California because this is one of the largest market areas for Santas.  In addition, the State also has one of the largest populations of Santas in residence.  Until the creation of IUSC, there had not been a training program or official Santa School in California for almost 20 years.

Directions to the University of Southern California

and the International University of Santa Claus

Saturday, July 19, 2003, 9 am – 6 pm

 

The USC Campus is located a little over one mile south of Downtown Los Angeles.  Make your way to the Harbor (110) Freeway and exit at Exposition.  Go west one block to Figueroa Street and turn right (north).   USC will be on your left.

 

Continue on Figueroa to Jefferson Blvd. and turn left (west).  You will pass the Shrine Auditorium on your right and continue a few blocks to Gate 5 (McClintock Avenue).   Parking is $6.00.   The gate attendant will direct you straight into USC.  Follow the Santa Signs to the Gerontology Center and the Davis Auditorium.  You may park in the parking structure next to the Gerontology Center or you can park in the parking lot directly behind the building.
